Many of us are trying to drop some pounds, but have not had success because of the extreme measures we take, like taking dangerous diet pills. You might want to consider implementing these five small steps to jump start your weight loss. Remember to consult your physician before starting any weight loss program.

First, you could enlist a close friend or family member to act as your accountability partner. Ideally, this person would want to join you in your desire to lose weight and go on the journey with you. However, even if they are not interested in losing weight personally, they can serve as your primary support system. You might want to tell the person your weight loss goals and let them hold you accountable to your timetable.

Secondly, you could start off your new diet with a ten day session of Master Cleanse. Master Cleanse is a simple program consisting of consuming only the special Master Cleanse drink for ten days to flush out the toxins in your body. Many people who do Master Cleanse report a dramatic weight loss during the ten days, so it is often used as a motivational tool to get people excited about losing weight because they see those initial fast results.

Thirdly, after you are finished with the 10 days of Master Cleanse, you should slowly reincorporate foods as the Master Cleanse directions instruct you to do. Then you may want to try to focus on eating a larger amount of fruits and vegetables and less starches and meats at each meal. Also, eating six small meals per day instead of three larger ones has been shown to be an effective weight loss method because it tends to even out your caloric intake and blood sugar levels throughout the day.

Fourthly, you may want to use a notebook to keep track of everything you eat by writing down the item and its calorie count. This is called journaling and it is a proven weight loss tool. Make sure that you are completely honest and write down every item that passes your lips. It may surprise you how many calories you consume without realizing it. You may want to ask your doctor about your ideal calorie intake per day.

Finally, you might choose to add a simple exercise routine into the mix. One of the most versatile and free activities you can do is walking. Walking fast for 30 minutes per day is great exercise and cost nothing. If you have a dog, he might enjoy it if you bring him along too! Swinging your arms or carrying light weights as you walk can add to the positive effects. You may find that you have more energy and feel stronger after exercising regularly.
