Most of us have heard that we need to develop our passion. There should be at least one thing that makes us jump out of bed in the morning, happy to be alive just because we have the opportunity to do it. But what is that one thing, and how do we find it?
Fellow Career Coach Gail Blanke writes in this months Real Simple magazine about an exercise to help us realize more fully where our passions lie.
Imagine youre at a party where you dont know anyone and youre wishing you were somewhere else. But then you overhear a small group talking about something so compelling that you forget your shyness and walk straight up to them and say, Excuse me. I couldnt help overhearing you talking about X, and I just had to get into the conversation. What are they talking about? Is it Tuscan cooking? There are many things you can do at home to relieve your anxiety symptoms, reduce your anxiety or even prevent it. The number one key to treating or eliminating anxiety is relaxation, and the University of Michigan Health Center has released as guide explaining both why you need to learn to relax and how to do it.
The guide talks about the relaxation response; defined as "your personal ability to make your body release chemicals and brain signals that make your muscles and organs slow down and increases blood flow to the brain." Drugs can to a certain extent help you achieve this, but did you know you have the ability to do it yourself without the help of drugs?
